How to preserve olive oil?

To keep olive oil in good condition and preserve its properties and flavor, it is important to follow some recommendations when storing it:

  • Store it in a cool, dark place, such as a closet or pantry. Light can damage the oil and alter its flavor.

  • Use dark glass or stainless steel containers, as these materials do not allow light to enter and protect the oil from oxidation.

  • Close the container tightly after use and store it upright to prevent air from entering and rusting.

  • Do not mix oils with different flavors or aromas, some of them could be deteriorated and the result will not improve.

  • Do not store olive oil near heat sources, such as the stove or oven, as heat can damage the oil and alter its flavor.

  • Do not store olive oil in the refrigerator or cold place, as the cold can cause the oil to solidify and become thick. If the oil solidifies, just leave it at room temperature (about 14 degrees Celsius) for a few minutes to return it to its liquid state. The oil however is not damaged by the cold, you can make your own olive oil butter!

By following these recommendations, you will be able to keep olive oil in good condition and enjoy all its benefits.
